Overview

Mäpt Græ̈-kik was founded durring the early 15th century in summer of the year 1409, by Gêd vyim Tæ̝Lʤine. The establishment of Mäpt Græ̈-kik was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Gêd vyim Tæ̝Lʤine struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Mäpt Græ̈-kik as a prison colony.

Mäpt Græ̈-kik was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the early 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Græ̈-kik is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature stone brick construction with most buildings posessing towers, turrets, dormers, and wide wrap-around porches. An extreem emphasis on decorative features and emblishments can be seen even on the poorest of homes and makes even the most humble of structures seem a bit regal.

Mäpt Græ̈-kik is buildings are arranged arrounded a highly ordered system of restrictive baked earthen streets which form triangular paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. Mäpt Græ̈-kik's millitarily questionable fortifications are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

Right off the bat Mäpt Græ̈-kik hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. The town is very clearly a joyfull place as well as wealthy. Music can be heard often, as well as laughter. The smell of food and drink permiates the air. You can’t help but smile.

Cultural Notes

Mäpt Græ̈-kik's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

In Mäpt Græ̈-kik rainbows form quite often above the Town.

The Reindeer near Mäpt Græ̈-kik are known to be quite timid.

Mäpt Græ̈-kik's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves drinking to channel Transmutation energies of tier 2 via moments of science.

POI

History

Mäpt Græ̈-kik used to be much richer, but something happened in the last (20207 % 6)+1 years to crush its source of prosperity. Different factions of the community might be trying to grasp at the remaining dregs of wealth, others might try to restart the failed industry, and some might look for a new livelihood. Any group or entity thought responsible for the collapse is likely to be treated very harshly, and some locals might find profit in shifting the blame to their enemies.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century the Kami granted the town a great harvest. One of Mäpt Græ̈-kik's local festivals commemorates this miracle.
